Published in 1982 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Capitol's dedication. Page Program Book

Senate Clerk's Office · (304) 357-7800 · senate.clerk@wvsenate.gov

The handbook issued to students serving in the Legislature's Page Program. Senate Journals

Senate Clerk's Office · (304) 357-7800 · senate.clerk@wvsenate.gov

The official record of proceedings in the Senate, following the Order of Business and recording each action taken on a measure from introduction through passage, with the result of every roll call. Catalogued here as the bound volumes issued after a session closes. The daily journals published while the Senate is sitting are posted on the Legislature's Bulletin Board.

Acts of the Legislature of West Virginia

House Clerk's Office · (304) 340-3200 · house.clerk@wvhouse.gov

The official compilation of the bills and resolutions passed by both houses and subsequently enacted into law, published after each session and prepared by the Clerk of the House of Delegates as the Legislature's record keeper. The series runs from 1863 to the present. Sessions were biennial for much of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, so the sequence of years is not continuous. A limited number of the bound volumes may be purchased from the Clerk's Office.

Legislative Manual

House Clerk's Office · (304) 340-3200 · house.clerk@wvhouse.gov

A shorter companion to the Blue Book, issued for each new Legislature. It carries photographs and biographies of the governor and every member, with listings of the congressional delegation, elected state and judicial officers, legislative staff and accredited press, and rosters of former governors and past members. Closing sections hold population figures, the rules of both houses, and the texts of the Declaration of Independence and the United States and West Virginia constitutions.

House Journals

House Clerk's Office · (304) 340-3200 · house.clerk@wvhouse.gov

The official record of proceedings in the House of Delegates, following the Order of Business and recording each action taken on a measure from introduction through passage, with the result of every roll call. Catalogued here as the bound volumes issued after a session closes. The daily journals published while the House is sitting are posted on the Legislature's Bulletin Board.

Membership Directory

Office of Reference & Information · (304) 347-4836

A pocket directory issued for each new Legislature, giving a photograph and contact details for every senator and delegate, the leadership of both chambers, and the membership of each standing committee. It also carries general information on the two houses, toll-free telephone numbers, the Legislature's web address, and the correct form for addressing correspondence to a member.

Chronology of Women in the West Virginia Legislature

Office of Reference & Information · (304) 347-4836

A cumulative record of every woman who has served in the West Virginia Senate or House of Delegates, giving name, party and home county. It begins in 1922, when a single woman sat in the House, and is carried forward with each new Legislature.

Information Packet

Office of Reference & Information · (304) 347-4836

A reference packet assembled for Capitol visitors and for anyone following the Legislature from outside it. It gathers a floor map showing each member's room number, seating charts for both chambers, Senate, House and congressional district maps, photographs and contact details for every member, and telephone numbers and addresses for the congressional delegation, state agencies, and the state's colleges and universities.

Session Calendar

Office of Reference & Information · (304) 347-4836

A single-sheet calendar of the year with the days of the regular session marked out, issued before each session by the Office of Reference & Information. Beside the twelve-month grid it lists the state holidays with their citation in the Code, and sets out the numbered days of the session that carry a deadline: the twentieth for rule-making review bills, the thirty-fifth and forty-first for the last introductions in the House and in the Senate, the forty-seventh for bills out of committee, the fiftieth for third reading in the house of origin, and the sixtieth for adjournment at midnight — each with the rule or constitutional provision that fixes it. Printed in a wall layout and a pocket layout.

Capitol Maps

Office of Reference & Information · (304) 347-4836

Floor plans of the Capitol complex, issued for a given Legislature. A plan of the grounds keyed to the state-owned buildings, the accessible entrances and visitor parking is followed by the main building and its wings floor by floor, naming the chambers, committee rooms and offices and showing which members and agencies occupy them. Room assignments change with each Legislature, so an earlier edition is a record of who sat where as much as a guide to the building.
